Our collection includes teaching datasets, many of which can be explored online without the need for additional software. However most of the data available through this service can be used by teachers to produce recent, engaging, real-world teaching resources.
Discover teaching data
We have a growing number of datasets designed for teaching, produced both by data services and teachers themselves, which can be accessed through our Discover tool. These include:
- cut down datasets from major surveys
- qualitative teaching files
- file collections for teaching particular topics

Unrestricted access files
A small number of files are available without licence. These files have fewer variables than their licenced siblings. Discover unrestricted access data now.
Explore teaching data online
Many of our teaching datasets can be explored online without the need for additional software:
- survey datasets for teaching may be found in Nesstar
- extracts of qualitative studies can be found in our teaching resources
Do it your way
Unless specified otherwise, all of our datasets can be used by teachers. For example:
- our international time series can be extracted and manipulated in a spreadsheet
- surveys in Nesstar can be cut down to create teaching datasets online
