About the event
Reuse of data is the final element of the FAIR principles and has long been argued as a central benefit of data sharing, allowing others access to a wealth of research and making research funding more efficient by removing the need to duplicate work. Yet we are still in the process of evaluating success in this area. This webinar brings together speakers to discuss what we know about the current state of play around data reuse, what researchers can do to increase the reuse potential of their data, and possible future development in data reuse.
Louise Corti explores the reuse of UKDS datasets, sharing good practice examples and principles to make data more reusable.
Tiberius Ignat discusses the growing case for data reuse by machines and the possibility of granting machines data reuse rights.

Speakers
Tiberius Ignat
Dr Tiberius Ignat is the Director of Scientific Knowledge Services, a company which specialises in helping the European libraries to embrace new technologies and ways of working. Tiberius has a personal interest in Open Science, particularly Citizen Science, Science Communication and the management of this cultural change. He founded in 2015 a series of events called Focus on Open Science, to support the implementation of Open Science. He is a member of the European Citizen Science Association and the Citizen Science Association in the USA. He is a member of the scientific committee for OAI CERN-UniGe series and has served in the organising committee of the Sorbonne Declaration on Data Rights. Tiberius Ignat has a PhD in Library and Information Science from the University of Bucharest. LinkedIn
Louise Corti
Louise Corti is an Associate Director at the UK Data Archive and heads up the Data Services teams. Her research activities are focused around approaches, standards and technologies for reviewing, curating and reusing digital social science data, particularly using open infrastructures and tools. She is an author of the Sage Publications book 'Managing and Sharing Research Data: a Guide to Good Practice', and articles and chapters on data sharing and reuse. Louise was nominated for the 2016 ODI Women in Data Award and leads on the Essex summer school on Encounters with Big Data for the Social Scientist.
Dominic Dixon (Chair) is Research Librarian at the Office of Scholarly Communication at Cambridge University Libraries.
