The data protection legislation is changing in the EU on the 25
May when the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect. The
GDPR provides you with more control over how your personal data are used by
organisations and requires them to be more clear and transparent about how they
are using your personal data.
The UK Data Service has always sought to ensure that you as a
user have been in control of your personal data and that we are transparent
about what we do with your personal data. We have taken this opportunity to
make some changes to our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and End User Licence to make them more clear and concise. Alongside
this, we have updated our Depositor Licence to include some additional terms which the
GDPR requires when an agreement is between a data processor and data
controller.
As always, if you wish to change your contact preferences
you can update these in your user account area (accessible here) and if you are subscribed to
our Quarterly Newsletter and wish to unsubscribe you can do so here.
If you have any questions or concerns about these updates,
please do contact us at comms@ukdataservice.ac.uk.
