Webinar: The ONS Labour Force Survey Transformation Project – Designing a web-first approach to data collection
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is transforming the way its surveys collect data. It is introducing an online mode, and designing for a web-first approach to mixed-mode collection, which brings challenges and opportunities.
This free webinar, organised by the UK Data Service in association with the Social Research Association, will be presented by Alex Nolan, a Senior Research Officer at ONS. Alex will describe how ONS is developing a respondent-centric approach to moving labour market survey data collection online.
The webinar:
- describes the principles of the Government Digital Service that underpin the ONS's approach
- describes the qualitative development that has taken place so far
- discusses the evidence on the effectiveness of this approach from recent online quantitative surveys
The webinar will consist of a 40 minute presentation followed by 20 minutes for questions.
Level: Introductory/Intermediate
Experience/Knowledge required: Basic understanding of surveys. This webinar is likely to be of most interest to those who are familiar with the LFS or other large surveys
Target audience: Anyone with an interest in understanding the LFS transformation programme and the approach the ONS is using to transform its surveys from interview to online surveys
