Historical research and documentary film data management training: creating and managing digital data
This session, running from 9:30 till 12:00, will look at organisation, file formats, storage, back-ups, syncing, data security and data encryption.
** This session is a part of the Historical Research and Documentary Film Data Management Training Event and is open to all Essex Staff and PhD Students **
In this digital age, the generation of research data has grown exponentially, and data are easily generated, stored, kept long-term, disseminated and re-used. Where research involves people as participants, privacy and confidentiality of data needs to be taken into account. Data management is therefore essential, to make sure that research data are well organised, well documented, high quality and shareable.
These three data management sessions will guide researchers and PhD students through the key aspects of how to manage, document, format, store, transfer and safeguard digital research data, and how to publish and disseminate them. The training will focus on audio-visual humanities and social sciences data. Each session can be attended as a stand-alone event, or participants can join all three complementary sessions. Sessions
are free to attend.
