The Essex Big Data and Analytics Summer School runs from 23 July to 3 August and gives graduates, postgraduates, researchers, academics, practitioners and people in business a chance to join leading academics, data scientists, and engineers from around the world to explore the latest advances in the field.

There will be attendees and data science leaders from Microsoft, BT, Fraunhofer and more, and training covering, data curation, legal and ethical angles, methodologies and techniques and practical applications in business health and other sectors.

Louise Corti from the UK Data Service will be leading a session entitled Encounters with Big Data, an introduction to using big data in social sciences. The full programme is online now – as well as an online booking form – and there are special rates for students, staff and alumni of the University of Essex.

The summer school takes place over two weeks, and you can opt to attend one or both. Full details
