We’re pleased to announce the launch of the UK Data Service Dissertation Award for the 2025-26 academic year. The award recognises undergraduate social science dissertations that include excellent reuse of data.
UK Data Service resources for students
Undergraduate students can access data from our catalogue once they have registered with their institutional login. The data available covers a wide variety of topics, such as the environment, poverty and living costs, crime, health, labour, opinions and attitudes, and much more.
Our Quick Start Guides can help students get to grips with some of our most popular datasets, such as the British Social Attitudes Survey and the Health Survey for England.
The student pages on our Learning Hub also provide guidance on finding, accessing and using data in a dissertation or project.
The UK Data Service Dissertation Award
There are three awards and each winning entry will receive a £300 voucher and be featured on our website. If you are a student or a supervisor, you can find full details on how to enter at our dissertation award page.
Students can find inspiration for using data from the UK Data Service in our dissertation case studies.
The deadline is Wednesday 1 July 2026. Follow #UKDSDissertations on Bluesky and LinkedIn for the latest updates.
