Discussion group spaces available on 11 and 12 June…

Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations that work across the UK collect a wealth of data, highlighting the needs and experiences of the people they serve. However, once its immediate purpose has been fulfilled, it often remains dormant on organisational servers, limiting its potential use by others working towards similar goals.

The UK Data Service is pleased to support a project led by the VCSE Data and Insights National Observatory that is seeking to understand how well-designed data infrastructures can amplify the voice of the VCSE sector. The project has partnered with the British Red CrossDataKind UK, and the University of Strathclyde to explore new techniques and methods that can help make the most of the information gathered by VCSEs.

Learning from your experience

Data ownership, data sharing, and data security are key priorities, particularly when dealing with sensitive community information. To help support data sharing and reuse, the project aims to learn from the experiences of VCSE organisations working with data.

In particular, the team is keen to hear from VCSE users of the UK Data Service, including those who have accessed or contributed datasets via its data catalogue.

To support this, the team is hosting a series of facilitated and interactive discussion groups in June, offering participants the chance to share their insights and help shape future approaches to data sharing within the sector.

Discussion group dates

  • Wednesday 11 June from 11.00 to 12.00
  • Thursday 12 June from 15.00 to 16.00.
