We’re pleased to announce we have published our UK Data Service Annual Report 2024–25 for the period 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, marking the first year of delivery under our new ESRC funding award. The report reflects a year focused on strengthening foundations: improving services, investing in infrastructure, and supporting researchers through faster access to data, new platforms, and enhanced training and engagement.
Stories of progress
The report introduces the UK Data Service’s Strategy 2024–2030, setting out a clear and ambitious vision for the next six years. The key stories show how this year’s work has aligned with the strategy and delivered strong progress across all areas of delivery.
The report illustrates how the inputs we receive and the work we do translate into a service that researchers can access and use effectively, enabling research impact and, ultimately, real-world impact.
Highlights of the year
Key annual statistics demonstrate continued growth in demand for the Service. The number of users accessing data increased, registered users reached a five-year high, and access times for sensitive data continued to fall across all access routes.
Alongside these service improvements, we strengthened our training and skills offer, supporting researchers at different career stages to build confidence and capability in working effectively and responsibly with data.
To explore these achievements in more detail, read the UK Data Service Annual Report 2024–25.
