We’re hosting a range of free workshops that may be useful for dissertation students:
Dissertation projects: Introduction to secondary analysis for qualitative and quantitative data | 15 October, 10.00 – 11.30
Join this workshop for a practical run through of the research process of a secondary analysis project – including methodological and ethical issues, how to access and get started with quantitative and qualitative data and some key points to include in your dissertation write-up.
Using QGIS to map 2021/22 census data from the UK Data Service | 21 October, 10.00 – 12.30
Join this workshop to learn how to use 2021/22 census data to create maps and other data visualisations with the free open-source software QGIS.

Data in the spotlight: Large scale social surveys | 27 October, 10.00 – 11.30
If you’re looking for data to use in your dissertation, the UK Data Service provides access to survey data on health, work, public opinion and more. Join this session to learn about the key UK datasets available from the UK Data Service, examples of their use, and how to access them.

UK Data Service Dissertation Award
Launching this October: the UK Data Service Dissertation Award celebrates undergraduate students using UK Data Service data in their dissertations this academic year. Entries are open from October to July. Three winners will each receive £300 and publicity for their work.
