A one-day workshop organised by CESSDA ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium), together with the Democracy and Elections Group, University of Manchester.

This free workshop will explore data available in Europe for researching political behaviour through talks, discussions and a hands-on session. The morning will include expert introductions to major election studies, including their background, research potential and the structure of the data. The talks will be followed by a hands-on practical session with data from the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES). In the afternoon, the focus will widen with talks about data and political behaviour beyond elections and election studies including digital data, participation online and research in crisis contexts.

The workshop is targeted towards early career and PhD researchers but is open to anyone interested in the range of data available for researching political behaviour. Some prior understanding and experience of quantitative data and research methods may be useful. The workshop will include a practical session using STATA.
