Funding opportunity available working with Understanding Society data

Our colleagues at Understanding Society, one of the largest household panel studies in the world, are accepting submissions for Policy Fellowships.

The 6-12 month funding will see Fellows undertake a social science project, using Understanding Society data, which has the potential to make a substantial contribution to informing and influencing public policy.

Research must be completed by 30 September 2019, with dissemination of findings within a further six month period, including submission to a peer review journal and presenting at academic conference in 2018/19.

Applications will be assessed on the basis of their scientific merit and potential for policy impact. Eligible researchers should be in a UK higher education institution, or eligible research organisation to apply.

Applications are welcome from early career researchers (<3 years post PhD) who should also identify a mentor in their own institution.

Funding will cover salary and on-costs for up to 12 months with the planned project demonstrating achievability in the timescale of the project. The total budget should not exceed £60,000.

For more details on the survey and the application form visit Understanding Society; the data are available to download via the UK Data Service.

Deadline for submissions is 9 April 2018.
