Instructions on how to register if you are not a UK academic user
Note: If you are in the UK and your organisation is part of the UK Access Management Federation (UKAMF) and on this list of federation members, you can register with us using the username and password issued to you by your organisation.
- Apply for a username using this online form.
- When you receive the email containing your username, follow the link and step-by-step instructions to complete your registration.
Note: when logging in after you have registered, you will need to type in and select ‘UK Data Archive’ as your organisation, or select the quick link for If you have a username beginning ‘ukd’, under the ‘Continue’ button on the login screen.
Once registration is complete, you will be able to download or request access to data from us.
Restrictions on access:
Some datasets are not available to all users. Details of any access restrictions will be shown on the ‘Access’ tab available for each dataset in the data catalogue.
Commercial or non-commercial use?
Users from commercial organisations can access our resources and download and order data from us. However, depending on how they intend to use the data, they may have to follow some additional steps. If you are unsure as to whether your use will fall under commercial use, please see our How can I use your data for my project page.
